5 Stars For the Money it’s great.
For the cost this is a good system.. looks good, sounds good.

Only thing I miss would be having multiple HDMI or Digital Inputs but that is what you give up to have it for this cost.

4 Stars Samsung HT-Z512T
I bought this home theater along with my new Samsung LCD TV. They both arrived very fast. This home theater looks very sharp when set up. It’s a little tricky learning all of the functions but it sounds amazing and works in sink with my Samsung TV. The remote contol recognizes both samsung products which is nice and makes it able to only use 1 remote.

The only slightly negative is that there isn’t a lot of input/output jacks for those with a whole bunch of stuff to hook up but there is an HDMI output and 1 AV input so it works great for what I have and for the money it’s an excellent deal.

4 Stars Great Sound
This product has great sound for the price. Does not have a lot of inputs, but this is an easy fix by using Optical or HDMI switches. I have my Cable Box, Xbox 360 & Samsung Blu Ray all connected via an Optical/Toslink switch. I am alble to play any of these devices through the surround sound system.

1 Star A HTS w/o sound? True!
The display at Best Buy didn’t work. That should have deterred me. Rather, I thought it was a connectivity/setup issue on their end. So, I proceeded to buy it. Within the first three hours after setup, I lost sound a dozen times. It didn’t matter the source…aux, dvd, ipod….the sound went out randomly. It wasn’t the speaker connections; it wasn’t the source. Returning it tomorrow.

5 Stars Love it
Very happy with the performance to cost ration for this product. Though I thought I’d be able to play normal television channels through the sound system, I guess the theater sound is only for the tuner and DVD modes. I like it a lot.

5 Stars Outstanding performance.
The system works great. You get crystal clear sound. I conected my PS3 to it and it sounds great. It gives you a great gaming experience. I don`t think it`s possible to get something better for this kind of money.

Blu-ray movies sound awesome.

4 Stars First HT system
I found the HT-S6100 to work well with crisp sound and ample bass. I doubt there are many better HTiB and none better at this price range.

If you are comparing this to the S7100, know you only get Onkyo branded speaker stands and added i-pod functionality. If these extra features are important to you than get the S7100, otherwise stick with the S6100.

I connected the speakers with 16 gauge the wires right out of the box per the suggestion of many HT forums , so I don’t know how well the system will sound with factory wire.

The auto set up needs tweaking to get it to sound right, though it provided a good starting point.

The universal remote works best when it is all HDMI in (HDMI out to TV is assumed). It is fine for non-HDMI connected sources though more button pushes are required.

There appears to be no loss in video quality through the receiver, except with the cable company’s HD cable box. The cable picture was slightly darker and slightly blurred in movement. Xbox 360 & PS3 work perfectly with the receiver.

4 Stars Outstanding value despite a few little quirks
I’ve had my HT-S6100 installed for a couple of months now. I acquired it in March 2009 for $five forty nine shipped from N e w E g g. It arrived amazingly quickly via UPS, in perfect condition in the product packaging box.

Overall I’m very happy with this system and would consider it an outstanding value. With a good HD 5.1 or 7.1 channel signal, it sounds awesome. For stereo music listening it can sound a bit barky and it doesn’t have a lot of punch, but on the whole it’s not bad. For home theater, it’s worth much more than I paid for it.

As other reviewers have noted, it does have a few quirks. Here are some observations I didn’t see in other reviews:

1) The gain level of the receiver’s subwoofer setting affects the peak volume of the receiver. I suspect this is to prevent you from blowing out your sub by cranking the volume, but it’s kind of annoying. If you have the volume knob turned low on the subwoofer and calibrate the receiver using the Audyssey system, it will boost the subwoofer and compensate by putting a low ceiling on your overall system volume.

2) On a related note, the volume maxes out at a numerically peculiar “79.” Why not 100? I don’t get it. Likewise the gain settings on the separate channels go to 12. Why not 10? It reminds me of Nigel on Spinal Tap: “These go to 11.”

3) It would be nice if it had a couple more analog RCA a/v inputs. If you have more than one gaming system you’ll be scratching your head to figure out where to hook them up. I run the Wii through the front AUX connectors for lack of a better choice on the back. That means I always have cords running around the front of the receiver, which is kind of stupid.

4) The plethora of listening modes (Dolby D, DTS, True-HD, PlxII, etc.) is pretty confusing. Sometimes the receiver seems to select a setting based on the input signal, and other times it doesn’t. I guess I need to read up again to understand what it’s doing, but it seems a bit mystifying.

5) The iPod dock will only accommodate certain generations of the iPod. I don’t own an iPod so this isn’t important to me right now. I wish, however, that it provided a mini-plug jack on the iPod dock so I could plug in my MP3 player. Instead you have to use the AUX input, displacing whatever else you might’ve plugged in there.

That’s my 2 cents. I’d definitely buy the HT-S6100 again and I think it hits the sweet spot in Onkyo’s home-theater line — a nice-sounding, reasonably powerful receiver with a lot of bells and whistles, plus 8 decent speakers, for less than six Franklins. Really can’t be beat!

5 Stars It Rocks
Ok well first thing it took me about 12 hours to runn the wire and hook it up but I am a little OCD lol. Got it hooked up and wow. Called a buddy to come listen that has a bose system that he paid well over three times for and he is selling it after he heard this system. The down firing bass box makes it so the base is sounds if its coming from everywhere and is plenty of bass. Awsome system and I researched for six months before I bought and I am very immpressed.

5 Stars Onkyo Rocks
Really great unit for the money. Only need one cable to go to my flatscreen.

Easy to set up. Great sound. Wish the brackets allowed the speakers to be mounted horizontally.

Great value for the money. If you are setting this up under your TV it is very easy. If the unit is off to one side (as mine is) you’ll need speaker wire. I would replace it anyway as the wire they gave is rather thin. But they are color coded so it is a snap to install.

Overall I recommend this to everyone. You’d easily spend twice as much for other competitive units and not get all the functionality. The 4 HDMI ins are great for my DVR, Wii, DVD player. The ipod dock is very handy.

4 Stars Satisfied – does all that I want it to do
I’ve owned this for a month now, and have used it for about 30 hours of video and computer browsing. I was concerned about the rainbow effects mentioned by other reviewers, but I haven’t discerned any in my time with it.

Didn’t think i’d use the remote, but is convenient to change the inputs, aspect ratios (16:9 to 4:3 etc.) and the brightness / contrast. The bulb meter is pretty convenient to track usage of the bulb.

Overall, a great buy for the price!

5 Stars As promised
I had to do a lot of research before buying since this was my first projector. For the money I don’t think you can find any better; bright, crisp, easy to use, simple installation.

This projector is used to project old movies and art on a concrete wall and the images come out incredible.

I would definitely recommend this to anyone.

5 Stars Excellent projector for the price
I really have no complaints with this projector. The picture is crystal clear with bright, rich colors, the fan is much quieter than my old Sharp projector, and the bulb is bright enough in “low” mode to even watch during the day in my living room. I have yet to need to turn the brightness up to “standard”.

The rainbow effect is not nearly as bad as I was lead to expect from other reviews. I only really see it if I dart my eyes back and forth quickly, but during normal viewing I don’t notice it at all.

I can’t comment on bulb life as I’ve only put about 400 hours on mine, but so far so good.

All in all, I’m very pleased with this projector and would certainly buy it again.

5 Stars HC1600 is Awesome!!
I had an older non-HD projector before this, and worked it to the bone… so when I switched to the HC1600, it was another world. It has to be the best bang-for-your-buck HD projector out there. It is very quiet, and the color is great, the ‘low’ lamp mode is slightly less bright, but will extend the life of your lamp by 50% or more; I use it in the ‘low’ mode. I have it connected to my computer and to my XBOX360 and it works beautifully.

I have never used a projector with higher specs, so I can’t compare to anything ‘better’. The keystone feature for both left-right and up-down movement is nice so that it does not have to be centered to the desired screen placement. Its bigger than an HDTV you would purchase for the same price, and easier to handle!! I would recommend this projector to anyone who wants to have a home theater in their house.

5 Stars Best TV Experience Ever
I use this projector as my living room TV. It provides 100+ inches of HD quality picture, and hooks up easily into a cable/satellite set top box. It has normal component inputs for HDMI and digital audio. The fan is noisy by default, but you can turn the bulbs to a lower setting and this slows down the fan and prolongs bulb life.

Keep in mind that you’ll probably want some sort of a home theater receiver that can handle multuple video and sound inputs. The projector only has inputs for one video input (2 if you count the additional HDMI). You need some kind of external speakers. It’s a great system and so far has been a good buy.
