Plug-and-Play Simplicity and 500 GB Storage Capacity

The USB 2.0 interface allows for plug-and-play simplicity with a data transfer rate of up to 480 Mbps. Additionally, the drive is already preformatted NTFS, so you don’t have to waste time formatting to use it.
The Prestige features a drive with 7200 RPM spindle speed and an 8MB or higher cache buffer. This provides performance that results in fast access speeds and low latency.
And with 500GB of storage capacity, the Prestige gives you the ability to store up to 2 million photos, over 9,000 hours of music, or 750 hours of video.
Stylish Aluminum Case
The Prestige has durable aluminum construction with a brushed-metal finish that will stylishly complement your desktop or workstation. An included stand gives you the option of either placing the drive horizontally or vertically.
Not only does the aluminum design look good, it also works to dissipate heat, allowing the drive to run cooler and quieter.

5 Stars Iomega Prestige 500 GB USB External HDD
I had some problems initially; but, after doing a clean-install (which I needed to do anyway for other reasons) I have not had any problems. I am probably most impressed with the amount of storage for the price paid.
I am using diversity for storing critical files. I have read these external HDD don’t last over a few years; but, for the price and convenience it gives me, I’ll pay it. Use multiple storage devices and you will be fine. These things are dirt cheap.
5 Stars Easy as Pi (not as difficults as i )
Plugged into my computer, Computer mapped to it automatically, I moved photos on to it. Easy. The only problem we have had – if I leave it on and reboot, it trys to boot from the drive. I have to make sure it is off before starting the computer – probably a setting issue with my computer and not the drive.
1 Star BREAKS soon after you get it
Had it 6 months and it broke and is trash. Lost massive data because I expected it to last at least a year so I could get a backup going on-line. NOPE. Drive broke probably after 2 months of use. Most of the time I had it unused.
4 Stars don’t have anything to complain about
Have owned this product for 2 weeks now. I have it hooked up to my ibook. I purchased it with the only intent to store all of my MP3s on it. I was worried initially because i read reviews saying it was noisy and the fan was obnoxious. I have not had any of those issues. I do hear a small click like noise when it does kick on to pull from the device but other than i think it sits dormant. I like it. No complaints here!
1 Star Garbage
I have one right now with all my pictures and files on it. It is dead. Iomega sent me a new power cord after chat diagnose. They said it wasn’t getting the power it should. The cord is identical to the one it came with and it still won’t turn on or boot up or transfer my pictures back to the desktop. They offered to exchange it which I will do as soon as I fugure out how to get my stuff off. The cost for them to remove my pictures: $700- $2900. I will take the exchange but I will probably sell it on ebay.
