5 Stars Clear Concise Sound
I purchased these speakers as my previous system rendered the spoken word on TV, and in movies, inaudible. I first paired the speakers with my existing Onkyo HT R330 receiver and noticed a significant improvement in sound quality and clarity.

I then replaced the Onkyo with a Harman Kardon AVR254 and it’s like night and day. These speakers do exactly what I wanted them to, and paired with a quality receiver the sound quality from Blu-Ray movies and even just Dolby Digital from DVD is awesome.

5 Stars Money Well Spent
I purchased the CS6100BG JBL speaker system in Jan. 09 and I can tell you that it was money well spent. I had just purchased a Sony XBR6 52″ LCD and a Sony STR DG920 A/V receiver. These speakers are great! I had no idea what spending a little more money can get you. They even come with 16 gauge speaker wire and mounting brackets. I am now in the process of ordering two more matching sattelite speakers so I will have the option of Dolby 7.1 sound. If you want good looking speakers that have great sound, then look no further. Of course, the name “JBL” should tell you that!

5 Stars Fantastic system
This is an amazing system for the price and should probably cost closer to the suggested retail price – the fact that it’s half price on Amazon is awesome! The sub is seriously loud, I mean it bangs hard! You could have a serious house party with just this sub and a good receiver.

This is the best audio setup under $1000 bar none. I did tons of research before buying this and you won’t find better sound for under 1k.

I plugged these in and ran the auto sound setup on my Onkyo 674 and it was love at first hear. These look beautiful too but the finish is extremely delicate and will rub off with very light use. I brushed one of these up against the wall and the black gloss was all gone in that spot. I didn’t buy these for looks anyway so I don’t really care.

They include TONS of speaker wire in the box also which is awesome. And the box it comes in is packed really well which helps because FedEx and UPS treat packages with about as much care as someone who just burglarized their house.

Buy this system and smile that you didn’t waste $1400 on a Bose system and have speakers that sound just as good for under half the cost.

5 Stars These are great.
These speakers (JBL CS6100BG) JBL CS6100BG Complete 6-Piece Home Theater Speaker System (Black Gloss)sound great. Price is good. They look good. Only problem is finding speaker stands for these speakers. You can get stands made for these speakers but they aren’t cheap, about $200 a pair. Here is where you can get them.

I’m happy I got these speakers and would buy them again. What more can I say.

5 Stars great speakers

3 Stars Great for the Price, but some limitations
Great price, fast delivery and rather easy set-up. I still have to run an optical because I cannot get sound to pass-through. Overall sounds great with using default settings, remote is easy to use, though not anything to be in “wow” of.

Overall, sounds good, it works and great price.

4 Stars Excellent Systems and great sound quality
I purchased this system about a month ago. It is a great system for the price. The sound is clean, crisp unlike the sony and panasonic systems that I also have. The subwoofer level is deep and vibrates the entire living room. I love the Audessey feature, it modulates the sound so that there is no super highs. It maintins sound level when watching both a movie or even playing a video game.

The biggest con is the HDMI pass through. I was under the impression that HDMI passes through both Audio and Video, but this system has a video only pass through. You have to run a seperate optical cable from the source into the receiver seperately. Oh well, you can’t get everything for such a cheap price.

Overall an excellent sound system. Recommended this system to all my friends who are on a budget.

4 Stars Great for the Price
Bought this system because I needed a reciever with more than one HDMI in and an HDMI out. Good for what the price is. I am able to plug my PS3 into it and then run out into my t.v. Can also connect my T.V. to it so I get T.V. sound out of my speakers. The HDMI doesn’t prodce sound though, only video, and for sound you have to buy an optical cable for it, but it’s easy to hook up.

4 Stars Great sound quality. HDMI didn’t work.
I’ve had this sound system for a little over 3 weeks now. The sound quality is very impressive for the price. It is very crisp and clear. The subwoofer will shake your house down if you set it to the maximum level. My biggest disappointment with this product was that the HDMI passthrough did not work. I did some research online and found others have had an issue with the HDMI feature. However, it wasn’t a big deal for me since I was looking more into sound quality.

5 Stars Outstanding performance.
The system works great. You get crystal clear sound. I conected my PS3 to it and it sounds great. It gives you a great gaming experience. I don`t think it`s possible to get something better for this kind of money.

Blu-ray movies sound awesome.

4 Stars First HT system
I found the HT-S6100 to work well with crisp sound and ample bass. I doubt there are many better HTiB and none better at this price range.

If you are comparing this to the S7100, know you only get Onkyo branded speaker stands and added i-pod functionality. If these extra features are important to you than get the S7100, otherwise stick with the S6100.

I connected the speakers with 16 gauge the wires right out of the box per the suggestion of many HT forums , so I don’t know how well the system will sound with factory wire.

The auto set up needs tweaking to get it to sound right, though it provided a good starting point.

The universal remote works best when it is all HDMI in (HDMI out to TV is assumed). It is fine for non-HDMI connected sources though more button pushes are required.

There appears to be no loss in video quality through the receiver, except with the cable company’s HD cable box. The cable picture was slightly darker and slightly blurred in movement. Xbox 360 & PS3 work perfectly with the receiver.

4 Stars Outstanding value despite a few little quirks
I’ve had my HT-S6100 installed for a couple of months now. I acquired it in March 2009 for $five forty nine shipped from N e w E g g. It arrived amazingly quickly via UPS, in perfect condition in the product packaging box.

Overall I’m very happy with this system and would consider it an outstanding value. With a good HD 5.1 or 7.1 channel signal, it sounds awesome. For stereo music listening it can sound a bit barky and it doesn’t have a lot of punch, but on the whole it’s not bad. For home theater, it’s worth much more than I paid for it.

As other reviewers have noted, it does have a few quirks. Here are some observations I didn’t see in other reviews:

1) The gain level of the receiver’s subwoofer setting affects the peak volume of the receiver. I suspect this is to prevent you from blowing out your sub by cranking the volume, but it’s kind of annoying. If you have the volume knob turned low on the subwoofer and calibrate the receiver using the Audyssey system, it will boost the subwoofer and compensate by putting a low ceiling on your overall system volume.

2) On a related note, the volume maxes out at a numerically peculiar “79.” Why not 100? I don’t get it. Likewise the gain settings on the separate channels go to 12. Why not 10? It reminds me of Nigel on Spinal Tap: “These go to 11.”

3) It would be nice if it had a couple more analog RCA a/v inputs. If you have more than one gaming system you’ll be scratching your head to figure out where to hook them up. I run the Wii through the front AUX connectors for lack of a better choice on the back. That means I always have cords running around the front of the receiver, which is kind of stupid.

4) The plethora of listening modes (Dolby D, DTS, True-HD, PlxII, etc.) is pretty confusing. Sometimes the receiver seems to select a setting based on the input signal, and other times it doesn’t. I guess I need to read up again to understand what it’s doing, but it seems a bit mystifying.

5) The iPod dock will only accommodate certain generations of the iPod. I don’t own an iPod so this isn’t important to me right now. I wish, however, that it provided a mini-plug jack on the iPod dock so I could plug in my MP3 player. Instead you have to use the AUX input, displacing whatever else you might’ve plugged in there.

That’s my 2 cents. I’d definitely buy the HT-S6100 again and I think it hits the sweet spot in Onkyo’s home-theater line — a nice-sounding, reasonably powerful receiver with a lot of bells and whistles, plus 8 decent speakers, for less than six Franklins. Really can’t be beat!

5 Stars It Rocks
Ok well first thing it took me about 12 hours to runn the wire and hook it up but I am a little OCD lol. Got it hooked up and wow. Called a buddy to come listen that has a bose system that he paid well over three times for and he is selling it after he heard this system. The down firing bass box makes it so the base is sounds if its coming from everywhere and is plenty of bass. Awsome system and I researched for six months before I bought and I am very immpressed.

5 Stars Onkyo Rocks
Really great unit for the money. Only need one cable to go to my flatscreen.

Easy to set up. Great sound. Wish the brackets allowed the speakers to be mounted horizontally.

Great value for the money. If you are setting this up under your TV it is very easy. If the unit is off to one side (as mine is) you’ll need speaker wire. I would replace it anyway as the wire they gave is rather thin. But they are color coded so it is a snap to install.

Overall I recommend this to everyone. You’d easily spend twice as much for other competitive units and not get all the functionality. The 4 HDMI ins are great for my DVR, Wii, DVD player. The ipod dock is very handy.

5 Stars Good Sound
I have these speakers connected to a Sony STR-DH800 receiver. The sound coming out of the speakers is crisp and clear. The sub woofer is a little on the big side, so if you have a small room you may want to find a decent sized place for it. The speakers are about 14 – 15 inches tall and the center speaker comes with a little stand which allows you to tilt the speaker for better listening pleasure. Mounting the speakers on the wall was easy, no need for brackets and the such. Just 1 or 2 screws for each speaker did the trick. I’m happy with these speakers they fit exactly what I needed them for.

4 Stars These are keepers, however they are gigantic!
First impressions! GIGANTIC speakers, did not expect them to be that big! Nice and glossy but somebody who cares for their walls to look nice, you can back off right here…. Because the quality of these speakers isnt really breath taking that you would want to give up the look of your home.

Well, now the real deal with the speaker forget that they are big! They just sound according to your receiver! So I have had Onkyo 506, Sony 820, Onkyo 606. They sounded the best with Onkyo 606.

I cannt really speak much about the quality of any other speakers but these are keepers for what you pay!!

If you are an advanced user, I am sure you had listened to better ones.

I am just convinced for the fact that I paid only 300$ and the quality is just fine!.

5 Stars Boom!
Looks great but more importantly sounds great with my Onkyo 7.1 Receiver. Turns any type of sound into great sound, no need to spend thousands on products like Bose, just use automatic setup on your Onkyo receiver and it will maximize your speakers for your room, then just sit back and enjoy!

5 Stars Great speakers
I bought this system the other day and got it al installed this last weekend. I think the speakers sound very good. THe size is hard to tell in the pic but they are a little bigger than i expected but they mounted up nice so no complaints. I have them paired with Sony STRDG720 receiver and i havent done the auto cal yet but they already sound great. The sub can rattle the walls and the surround sound is very nice. A big upgrade for froma a very cheap system. Would definetly recommend to others.

5 Stars Amazing sound quality
I bought these speakers to go with my onkyo sr-606 receiver and I am amazed at how great they sound. This system is a serious upgrade from my samsung HTIB system. These speakers have incredible hi’s mid’s and lo’s and the 230w sub really thumps, you can even adjust the bass level with a knob in the back. I would recommend these speakers to anyone. The only drawback is the size. I had no idea how big they were going to be,but I guess if you want big sound you’ve got to have big speakers.
