4 Stars Pretty good value
These speakers are my 3rd attempt at finding something I’m happy with. For the price, I would recommend these. They’re not perfect, but I am happy with them. They are weatherproof and have decent sound quality and decent volume. They have a/c adapters and they take 12 C batteries and this can get expensive I suppose. I like the auto-off and auto-on feature. I’m not happy with the remote; it doesn’t always turn the speaker on after they’ve been off for a period of time. I also wish it had a “mute” button. Anyway, good value.

5 Stars Pretty cool. Great value.
This speaker system works. Set up was easy. The sound is good. I added a third speaker to the two that come with the system, and it worked without issues. I have not tried the speakers out on battery, nor have I tested the waterproofness of them. Recommended.

5 Stars GREAT, but weak bass.
If you have your own or separate woofer, then these add ons work excellently as portable speakers.

5 Stars Happy camper
I have music playlists from Napster on my computer that I want to listen to in other rooms but running speaker wires would be impossible. These wireless speakers solve the problem very nicely.

I connected the transmitter to the computer, plugged the speakers into an AC outlet and turned on the music. Real easy. I’m no audiophile but I like what I’m hearing.

The only problem I’m finding is that the transmitter doesn’t pick up all audio signals. Napster and various online am/fm stations play fine but I can’t get signals from others such as AOL Radio or Pandora.

Still, a thumbs up from me

5 Stars great addition to the garage
I am able to listen to on-line music in the garage. I was able to hang the speaker high up out of the way.

Panasonic SC PT660 5 DVD Home Theater System

Panasonic SC PT660 5 DVD Home Theater System

One of the exceptionally fine aspects of HDTV is that most programs are broadcast with a 5.1 channel surround soundtrack. Panasonic SC-PT660 is an easy way to enjoy it. With the Wireless Kit for Rear Speakers (SH-FX67 sold separately), no cables mean no clutter. You can also expand your music listening into three additional rooms with the wireless multi-room speaker kit (SH-FX85 sold separately). The front pair and center speakers are simply wired to the receiver that also has a DVD changer and an AM/FM radio. With 1000 watts of RMS power, home-theater is fully realized. Sit back and enjoy.

The built-in Universal Dock for iPod gives you a great new way to enjoy music and (composite) video. Just slip your iPod into the cradle and enjoy. The dock charges your iPod, allows you to use the home theater remote to control the iPod, has on-screen audio menus, and also plays back iPod video. Got a Panasonic Viera TV? VIERA Link displays a menu on the TV screen, making it easier to operate your connected home theater system. Whatever HDTV you own, it’s time to upgrade your sound and the Panasonic SC-PT660 is the best way to start it up. 4 Stars good unit for my pan tv
I bought this refurb thru Amazon from Good As New Electronics.

Happy with price and service from GANE.

Unit works great and makes TV listening much better for my old ears.

Everything has worked great for a month until a few days ago, when the Viera link stopped fully working. After a couple of hours on the phone with tech service at Panasonic, reseting both the TV and HT a few times, it turned out to be the HDMI cable which had worked fine until now. Fortunately I had a couple of extras. One of three fit tighter than the other two–and worked again. All three HDMI cables were from eForcity, so go figure.

The cables for the rear surround were too short and I needed another 15 feet–what a stupid design! I did figure out how to open the speakers which have terminal lugs inside, and the pins in the molex connectors going into the main unit can be removed. but I opted to just cut the wires to the rear surround speakers and add 18 feet of 22awg speaker wire using common butt splices–works great. I don’t think I would have liked the wireless version because of the additional pwoere requirement and potential interference problems.

I think the unit is well worth the price as a refurb, but gave it a 4 because of the rear speaker wire length (25′) and lack of paint on one side of the subwoofer. I think more inputs like digital coax would be nice too.

I have not had any problems with the DVD player mechanism, but I do treat it with care because it seems a bit complex and delicate, but okay if you pay attention.

4 Stars Custom speaker connections and pre-wired
I use the Panny SC-PT660 in my family room. Good features, sound, and easy to setup. Movies, TV and SAT radio for family – not heavy duty use. Works great with my Panny Viera Plasma. One issue, I failed to notice that the speakers have custome “clip-in” connections to the receiver and the speakers are “pre-wired”. My family room is pre-wired with standard speaker wires run behind the walls and ceiling. Had to splice the Panny wires for the rear surround sound speakers. I expected the speakers to accept the bare ends of the pre-run speaker wires.

2 Stars The system ate my 5 DvDs
I bought the Panasonic SC-PT660 5 DVD Home Theater System in Jan 2009. The wires for the surround speakers were too short. The woofer speaker is not finished on the left side. The instructions for operating the system were vague and complicated at the same time. The loading cassette which is built in the system and hold one to five dvds or cd all open at the same time. If you’re not using this set in a well-lit place you can have loading problems. For instance if you need to exchange a dvd in tray # 3, the cassette opens trays # 3, 4, 5, making the trays not needed for changing a single dvd or cd exchange, open and close needlessly. This will surely wear this mechanism out sooner.

After just two months of regular use the cassette changer jammed and capturing 5 dvds, three of them rentals. I went through the manual to try to clear it with no luck. I then called the 800 # listed on the manual and spoke to and operator from the Philippines who courteously walked me the through clearing procedure again with no luck. He then directed me to the nearest authorized Panasonic repair shop about 8 miles from my home. The technician at the shop immediately recognized the problem as the exchange system being out of alignment. He admitted repairing many of the same models with same problem. I was grateful that he not only retrieved the 5 dvds but also was able to repair the alignment. I was also grateful that Panasonic stood by their product. The Panasonic was still under warranty so the repairs were free. Something Samsung was unable to do when their home theater carasoule system would lockup when playing certain dvds, or simply wouldn’t even load them. I was so frustrated with the Samsung I put it out with the trash.

While Panasonic has always enjoyed a great reputation, I gave this system two stars because if it was just one or two players that had this problem, I would’ve said it was just my bad luck. However, for so many players to have this same “out of alignment” problem, this has to be a manufactures defect. In addition the skimping on the length of the surround speaker wires, the unfinished woofer speaker and the complicated operating instructions for the remote control. Last but not unimportant, the redundant procedure for loading and exchanging dvds & cds is a sure way to wear out the system’s mechanics. Sadly this set was obviously contracted out to the lowest manufacture bidder.

When this system was first marketed, it sold for about $400, I paid $240 with the shipping included. I figured the dealers were making room for the new BlueRay sets that were coming out and were selling them at cost. But knowing that this system may well eat my dvds (5 at a time) is a little troubling. Other than that the system plays the dvds well and the sound is okay, I don’t play cds on it. You know the old saying “Buyer Beware”

5 Stars Panasonic SC-PT660 5 DVD Home Theater System
Wonderful, worked just as expected, easy to hook up. Only wish I had gone wireless.

5 Stars Great Purchase!
I’m really impressed with the quality of sound that this system provides. Although we have a small home, it still makes the movie feel as if you’re right there in the middle of it all!

My brother spent big bucks on a Bose home theater system, and he claims my Panasonic home theater in a box is far superior!

I was a bit skeptical about the sound quality on the CD setting, as I had read other reviews. However, I would have to say that it does a great job with these, too!

1 Star Very Disappointing
I received this as a birthday present just shy of one year ago. The speaker sounded good, a bit hollow, but not bad for a single speaker. We used this for four months, then I put it away in the basement for the winter (to keep the battery from draining).

Pulled this out over the weekend, charged it overnight, and then…nothing. The battery would not hold the charge. I contacted Cables Unlimited and was told they do not make a replacement battery for this. Also, since it was 5 days over the one-year warranty period, they would not replace the speaker. So basically, we have a very plastic-looking rock that now works only when plugged into a power outlet.

I highly recommend everyone stay away from this product, unless they want to throw their money away for something with far-too short of a lifespan.

2 Stars Good sound, VERY inconvenient.
I bought two of these speakers for the area around my pool, thinking “Oh Boy! No more carrying a boom box out!” They are driven by a radio that is on my deck…a perfect setup, I thought.

The sound is ok (for a wireless rock, I guess).

But, the user manual states in the specs that they are auto on/off, and in another place in the manual it states that they will turn off after four minutes of getting no signal in order to conserve power, but it also states that they will turn on again when they get a signal again. So both spots in the manual agree that they are AUTO ON/OFF.

They do turn off automatically, but they do NOT turn back on automatically. Even if they are plugged into AC power 24/7, which mine are.

So, every time I want to listen to music I must turn on the radio on the deck, and then go down to EACH rock speaker individually and turn it on, and then go back and forth between the various rocks until I think the balance is correct. (They don’t retain your last volume setting, so I have to turn them on and then adjust the volumes again among the various rocks that I have).

If you only wanted to use these on special occasions and kept them in a closet charging the rest of the time, then turning them on manually is no big deal as you would have to visit each rock speaker as you carried it to its location anyway. But for someone who wants to leave them out most of the time (as I do), then they are not useful.

5 Stars Better Than Expected
After reading the previous reviews, I was ready for anything. How surprised I was at the great sound quality, especially the bass. The speaker is about 35ft from the transmitter. Setup was easy. Recevied it UPS in two days. I just ordered an “add-on” speaker. The only question mark will be durability since it’s outside. But only time will tell.

5 Stars Much better than expected.
I expected this speaker to be good, but it was much better than even my high expectations. Having had several sets of outdoor speakers, this one beats them all. Very clear sound wherever you take it.

The best thing is the rechargeable batteries! Can place it virtually anywhere. Guests are amazed.

4 Stars Satisfied
I bought this rock speaker based on other reviews. I had to send the first one back because it broke when installing it the first time. Things got better with the second one. Amazon made a quick exchange and I was back in business. The reviewers did not lie. Speaker has crisp, clear reception even when not in clear view of transmitter. Sound is about what I expected for a single speaker. Not great, but more than adequate for what we need it for which is piped in stereo sound on our deck. As long as you don’t expect bose type sound, you should be satisfied.
